Strength work out helps losing weight

You wanna lose weight? thinking about going for a run or taking a long bike ride, yes this will help you lose weight, but did you know? that intense strength work out can boost the after burn. This is because of the Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC).

What is EPOC?
EPOC stands for Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption. Because of the lack of oxygen during your workouts, your body will need more oxygen after your training that is because it needs to repair microtrauma in your muscles. This increases the energy consumption of your body.

The intensity of the workout
A low-intensity work out will results in a low after burn. While a high-intensity work out will result in a high after burn. Epoc increases the energy consumption after the work out. A work out of low to moderate intensity has little effect on the EPOC. But after intensive exercise, the body consumes additional calories. EPOC takes place during rest, in the body recovery phase after the workout.

Muscle mass
The biggest benefit of the strength work out is that your muscle mass will increase. Like most people know, your muscles consume more energy than your fat, even when your doing nothing at all. Strength work out is a great way to boost your metabolism.

Cardiovascular fitness
